I really, really like this--that Ollie knows in his head what the "right" answer is, but doesn't necessarily feel it or believe it. That's what I was going for and I am so happy to hear that it not only came across that way but it worked for you.
I get that Smallville is not a show that aims for realistic psychology, but "Roulette" as a follow-up to Ollie's attempted suicide is godawful and ridiculous. Agreed. I feel that they wanted a quick fix and that just didn't sit well for me, especially considering how far gone Oliver was. I mean, they tried that in 'Identity' and he broke again. I get that it's Clark's show and episodes like 'Roulette' make for good drama but it just doesn't work realistically. Even in a show about an alien. That's why I was so happy when they had Lois go into therapy. Very awesome.
This is going to be my new canon instead. :) Yay! One day I'm going to write a longer fic about Ollie actually getting the help that he needs and Clark supporting him step by step, even if it will only be for me.
