They're just so pointless and people keep doing it, in like, every single tv show/book/movie/etc. I mean, I understand it'd get kinda boring to make everyone just happy, sometimes they go too far. And honestly, I hate when they kill off male-male friendships but the opposite happens too. They kill female-female friendship with a triangle as well by sticking a guy between them and having them fight it out. That just makes me see red.
I don't blame you for not wanting to be called misogynist, which I didn't I'm sorry, it just felt that way and IDK ... I think there are certain words that get me riled up more than others. But yes, I can see how the first line could interpreted like you thought but I did follow it up with a 'it makes me like nobody' for a reason. I don't like anybody in a triangle. I got annoyed with Will, who looks like a pathetic puppy, Elizabeth, who is clearly so much more than just a love interest, and even Jack. She was cool when she burned his rum in the first movie. They should've kept her that way, because that's how I like my female characters. Then again, it's been a long time since I've seen those movies so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
And yes, I do see it a lot this in slash fandom, and I find it irritating beyond belief. It's kind of sad, considering the fact that most of us slashers are women. Hell, I've seen it in het fandom. Dealing with the Chlark vs Clois ship wars has worn me out. It's really eye opening what some people come up with. :(
Sleep tight! And I hope you have fun at the fan meet-up!
