Tbh, I used to skip the musical parts. It felt so out of tone for the show. I just didn't like how Stars Hollow became a caricature of itself. As kooky as the town was in the original series, it was still relatively grounded compared to AYITL.
That said, one time I had AYITL playing in the background and caught Sutton Foster's Unbreakable. I admit I was really moved by it, especially listening to it with Lorelai in mind.
