I am frequently left seriously bewildered by S6 hate. Barring a few of the sillier Lex/Lana parts of the season, it's definitely one of my favourite seasons of Smallville, and it's the only reason that I started/kept watching SV on a week-to-week basis. Yup, I had my share of my problems with it (mostly the Clexana, emphasis on the Clana) but overall, it was an improvement over s5 and even s7!
Without S6 - especially the Oliver parts, as episode posts about Arrow were my point of entry into the fandom and when I made a lot of my awesome SV fan friends, including Bop - I never would have ended up in SV fandom. Same here! I almost quit on SV after season 5, but Ollie's arc caused me to hold on. I shipped Clark/Ollie and the lack of fic caused me to write some myself and enter LJ/fandom too! :)
I know a lot of Clexers don't like Ollie, and some Clark fans have issues with him too because they thought he overshadowed Clark, but I enjoy his character and I always thought he was best in s6.
