Challenge #2
In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Fandom:
write more treats- I am hoping to budget my free time a little better and sign up for fewer exchanges so I can write a few treats, which I didn't have time for last year
finish my latest WIP
Make fic rec lists- I used to love to rec fics and I haven't done it lately
Non-fandom:
work out more consistently - I got into a better habit in latter half of the year but I need to keep it up
keep up with friends more consistently
start reading books again- aiming for one a month
learn new recipes, especially Indian ones from my mom, and start to cook more of a variety

Date: 2022-01-04 01:14 am (UTC)Write more treats is such a great goal! Timing them can be so tricky, especially if you're handling main assignments as well.

Date: 2022-01-04 06:03 pm (UTC)Thanks! I think since I end up having assignments with such close due dates that somehow, I miss out on writing treats, even though with every exchange, there is at least one or two other people that I would love to write for. So I figure if I sign up less (we'll see how that goes), maybe I can fit in some more treats. :D

Date: 2022-01-04 06:15 pm (UTC)I want to reread Sense and Sensibility because I read it when I was pretty young and probably didn't give it a fair shot. For new to me books, I am still working on it. I am trying to figure out some new mystery authors that I would enjoy and maybe go back to some classics I haven't read yet. I was always more of a Poirot fan when it came to Agatha Christie so possibly the Miss Marple stories too.

Date: 2022-01-04 06:17 pm (UTC)Thank you! I was aiming to set some realistic ones so I won't get overwhelmed and achieve them. :D

Date: 2022-01-05 12:51 am (UTC)What kind of books are you interested in reading?

Date: 2022-01-05 01:18 am (UTC)I tend to lean toward mysteries, especially the Agatha Christie/Sherlock Holmes style, and the Jane Austen type classics. I also like drama. I don't know where to start with fantasy and sci fi but I would love to try. Nothing too dark or gory because I can't handle it.

Date: 2022-01-05 04:43 am (UTC)YouTube workouts are really great! There's a website called Darebee that has some really cool workout programs as well. I'm not sure if it's still up, but I found it useful way back when. Yeah, it's so hard to keep up with a routine when you're traveling back and forth to work. The last time I worked out seriously was before I went back to work after the first lockdown in 2020!
Mysteries are always fun, along with the classics! The only horror book I remember reading is Christine by Stephen King. For the most part I like those easy to read psychological thrillers but a lot of them are just Gone Girl 48.0 these days lol.

Date: 2022-01-05 05:51 pm (UTC)Oh, I haven't heard of them. I was doing the walk at home ones which was more interesting than just going outside for walks, because I needed to do something that wasn't just yoga but I will have to check it out. There is so much extra time that is taken up- I would only get home by 6:45 and if you have to go to the gym, you won't get there till 7 and I'm not someone who can get up at 5 to work out. I don't have that motivation. I get what you mean! I think that was the last time I went to the gym.
They are fun! I don't think I've read any Stephen King, though my dad probably has. I can definitely imagine that the trend toward that type of story has picked up. Popular things do play a huge influence once they get, well, popular lol

Date: 2022-01-05 03:13 am (UTC)Go for it!
We love Indian food. One of our favorite discoveries last year was a mushroom and black-eyed pea curry. The lentil and bacon one actually came out of a French cookbook, but really tastes like a curry.

Date: 2022-01-06 04:35 pm (UTC)I do love to cook (and bake) so I figure I might as well learn some new things! Or really in my case old favorites.

Date: 2022-01-12 10:10 pm (UTC)It is definitely good to have activities you can do alone! And I know what you mean. I am okay socially but I am never going to be the person who is comfortable in a crowd of strangers and can just go up to someone and start making conversation. I prefer smaller groups and one-on-one time and I definitely need to have a break to be alone too. :D
