do the lyrics of each song have to fit the character? if so, that seems like it might make the meme a lot harder.

Yes, I think it is supposed to be songs that represent the character. I guess that is part of the challenge. It isn't really a meme anyway, just a challenge for a land comm, though anyone could make one of course.
