Has anyone had a constant 'reset your password' emails from AO3? Because I have gotten 4 in the past 24 hours. 2 in a row (about one minute apart), a 12ish hour break, and then 2 more and I never requested it once.

I sent a support request, but I don't know when they'll get back to me, and I'm pretty confused. I'm wondering if I should be concerned.

I've been on and off AO3 all day due to finding some stuff for friends and then realizing I needed to reset some of my RSS feeds and it hasn't asked me to reset my password at all.

Yeah, I haven't been on as much over the weekend and I'm still logged in so I was confused at what was going on. Apparently it is a problem for other people too so I'm not alone.

YES! I got 5 requests yesterday, 3 within a minute. I changed my password just to be careful since I get this a lot with my Instagram. I suspect it’s bots tbh. This has never happened in the years I’ve been with the site. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I didn’t log a support request since I wasn’t sure if I should. I might do that just in case it helps them to see it’s being experienced by others.

I just saw on FFA that it is a problem for other people too! And I was so confused, especially at the two I got within a minute. A bot makes more sense, and it seemed a lot more logical than someone randomly targeting my account.

I didn't the first time, but when it happened again, I figured I might as well. Someone said that AO3 is looking into it but a password change is a good idea too, at least for the moment.

I haven't been affected but heard many reports of users who are. Tickets have been filed, it sounds like AO3 support is investigating.

Oh, good! Sorry, I mean, it's not good, I'm just glad I'm not the only one. I figure if it's happening to multiple people, it's more likely a site glitch than someone trying to hack my account. I had 40, yes, that's FORTY 'reset your password' emails in the early hours of Saturday morning. Many of them were date stamped within the same minute or two, then a gap, then a few more. I Googled and found someone on Reddit saying they had it too, and now you, so it must be some AO3 website weirdness, I suppose.

Totally understandable! I felt the same way, because I was like 'why would anyone want to hack into my account' so that idea didn't make sense, but I couldn't figure it out why it would happen more than once otherwise. OMG, 40? That is insane! Poor you! I saw someone made a thread on fail_fandomanon about it so it is definitely a site issue.

I was the first person in my Discord hit, and by morning three others had been, out of 30 people.

I reset my password, AND, I took my email off my Public profile, in case that was how the bot/hacker/whatever was going about trying to reset it.

I am relieved I'm not alone in this. I was so confused the first time and a little WTF the second time. I got a response from support and they said outside of practicing normal security measures on the internet, they didn't seem to recommend changing anything.

Those seem like smart moves. I don't think I have my email listed anywhere (at least not where I could find) but it is probably pretty easy to figure out since I have the same username ... everywhere.
