I snagged it from
brokenhighways. Original list of 40 questions is from
1_million_words here.
1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
Something pretty light and fluffy, with mild angst. Usually very relationship focused, romantic in the spotlight but making sure to highlight some friendships as well. When I began writing, I used to be a lot more melodramatic, in the style of soap operas and older Bollywood movies. There's less crying these days and I *try* to make them act like the adults they usually are, though I won't hesitate to still lean into some communication issues. :D
2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
I'd love to do a soul bond fic. It's different than a soulmate one, a trope that I am working on right now for one of my WIP Big Bang stories, and it's interesting to think about that kind of connection. Also time travel. The implications and how things could change. The hard part is having to think about time travel! Or arranged marriage, especially in an AU where Krypton still exists.
3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?
A/B/O. It isn't for me.
4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Always too many. There's a reason that I have a separate post that I keep to myself where I note down my fic ideas. It keeps them in the same place rather than the 25 different word docs which only have a one line summary. There's a few ideas that have stuck around, like the canon divergence Smallville fic where Clark goes through the portal at the end of Salvation or an NFL AU or a Clois Noir AU since I will forever feel robbed by the episode.
5. Share one of your strengths.
Tough to say. Maybe dialogue? I try to do my best with the characterization and voices and hopefully it comes off right.

Date: 2022-09-03 08:25 am (UTC)Never got into any of the soulbond, soulmate, soulmark stuff. I don't know why, never appeals to me, somehow. Time travel is a minefield, but a necessary evil if you write Timeless fic, which I do sometimes. I did arranged marriage once as an AU for Star Wars, but I'm intrigued by your idea about it for Smallville... reminds me of an old Lois & Clark storyline when Clark was betrothed so a Kryptonian princess or something (I forget now how there were other Kryptonians... lol)
Also with you on A/B/O, so not my thing either.
'How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now?' 'Always too many.' - It's like we're the same person!! lol I actually do have something like 25 different word docs for all my fic ideas and it's crazy. Some have maybe a first chapter written, but yes, others are simply one line summaries.
I do like your dialogue :) That's a strength of mine too. I suck at action scenes and fight scenes, couldn't write an explicit sex scene to save my life, but give me people talking, talking, talking and I am all good for days! :)

Date: 2022-09-05 12:42 am (UTC)Makes sense. There's a lot of people who don't like all the soulmark/pre destined stuff. It can be off putting to be like "oh, they're only with each other because they have to be or are meant to be". And yeah, some fandoms are more time travel centric than others. It can be a challenge. I can see an arranged marriage in a Star Wars world. I started writing one for Smallville my first go around in fandom ages ago but it never went anywhere because I got lazy to work on the world building aspects. That is interesting about the L&C episode!
I forget now how there were other Kryptonians... lol)
I feel like all Superman medias find a way to throw in more Kryptonians!
Yeah, a/b/o kind of squicks me out so I avoid it.
LOL We are! I totally relate to all of that. There are definitely a few of them with some words written but not enough to make a story.
Thank you! I like your's as well. And I struggle with action scenes which can be annoying when you write mainly for a superhero fandom. I wish I could write sex but I am too awkward about it so you're not alone. Hey, at least we enjoy reading and writing the talking!
