6. Share one of your weaknesses.
Definitely describing the scene. I tend to get focused on characters and dialogue and I struggle with going into detail on the background/location. I can't always picture it easily in my head or come up with the right words without taking away from the rest of the moment. And action scenes! I never know how to make fights sound cool and natural.
7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
I switch between writing character reflections and a lot of dialogue. For some reason I can't really explain, I really liked this part of a Lois/Lana proposal fic, this will be (an everlasting love. It came after she discovers an engagement ring among Lois's things by accident.
Marriage was a complicated topic for her; with Clark, she had been young and naive and even if they had never gotten there, the thought of marrying him had felt like a dream, feet off the ground and floating in the air, metaphorically speaking. Actually marrying Lex, on the other hand, had been a nightmare from which she felt she couldn’t escape, until she did.
The idea of marrying Lois grounded her, but at the same time, made her feel strong and powerful and just … happy. She imagined walking down the aisle and not being afraid of meeting the other person at the end. Pictured driving away not filled with sadness, but with excitement, and if she was crying, they would be happy tears.
With Lois, there would be no looking back at any exes, just to the side at the one she loved as they continued to move toward their shared future together. It left her feeling hopeful and breathless and just so, so happy.
I liked exploring Lana's likely complicated feelings on marriage after her last one went south and reiterating how stable she and Lois were.
8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
I like writing banter in general and I'm never completely confident in my skill around it, there are particular ones that stand out, like this one in my Steve & Peggy fic, thank you (for being a friend):
Knitting is not just for old women now.”
“I’ve never been very good at knitting,” he said dryly. “I may heal but the needles still hurt.”
“The serum tragically did not grant you invulnerability.”
“I’ve learned to live with the disappointment.”
“You are a trooper.”
He ducked his head and let out a small laugh. “And there isn’t anywhere else I would rather be, than here with you.”
“You are an incurable sap,” Peggy sighed. “And unfortunately still so damn earnest about it.”
I don't write either of them very often and Peggy is a character I struggle with, but I liked how this turned out.
9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?
So many fics. Probably currently the Clois role reversal, just because I've been overthinking it and I threw in a side plot that I'm not quite sure how I want to resolve. I want Clark and Lois to sound like themselves despite the different circumstances so it can be a struggle. And I'm also having a hard time tying up a particular plot for my Clois fake dating story too. I can't decide and it is slowing me down.
10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?
This Sam/Bucky fic I wrote, a dream is a wish (your heart makes), where Bucky dreams of being married to Sam while in cryo, really came together faster than I thought. I loved the prompt from the moment I saw it and the words just flowed.
