[personal profile] apachefirecat asked: Smallville, Lana Lang, growing up feeling alone in a small town

This is interesting - I've never really given Lana (as a character) much thought, but now that I am in terms of that topic, it is true. She's definitely one of those people who probably feels alone in a crowd. The show introduces her as the "girl next door", the popular but sweet cheerleader dating the QB, and the dream love interest of the main character. However, despite her falling into certain stereotypes, she is also the same person who will hang out in graveyards in the evening, which isn't exactly what you would think of from someone like her.

While she loves and is grateful for her aunt, I think there is a slight disconnect there from both sides, as she's trying to find herself and not just be content with how the whole town sees her. The song "Halo" by Bethany Joy Lenz has always reminded me of Lana. Read more... )

[personal profile] scintilla10 asked: Ted Lasso, Keeley, any topic

I love Keeley - she was just such a bright spot right off the bat and I loved her dynamic with all the characters, and her relationship with Rebecca was delightful. She's so warm and positive and her journey to gain confidence in herself was great. I like that she stood up to Rebecca when she realized that she was behind the sabotage and how she put her foot down with both Jamie and Roy at various points too. She had a positive impact on the people around her - really encouraging and wanting to see the best in people.

I liked her growth and how she gained the confidence to do her own thing, which is why I was really disappointed with her s3 arc. Read more... )

[personal profile] impala_chick asked: Smallville /Tess/Her business skills - maybe how she's different from Lex?

When we were first introduced to Tess, it really was as if she was sent to pick up where Lex left off and it was pretty clear even with just the description of her character, it was clear she was meant to be the "Lex replacement". Truth be told, I had my doubts because of it. That's a tough act to follow after all. Yet it didn't take me long to really accept and become drawn to her character - Cassidy Freeman did a great job and had all sorts of charisma. She was immediately shown to be savvy businesswoman/editor and owner of the Planet, willing to do what it took to get the job done - smart, ruthless, charming and of course, a little shady. [personal profile] bradygirl_12 asked: DC Comics/Wonder Woman/What does she offer Man's World?

I'm going to start off by saying that my Wonder Woman knowledge is limited to the DCEU. While I also watched the animated Justice League show as a kid, I don't remember anything and the few comic books I've read didn't involve her.

Asked by [personal profile] ultra_fic: Gilmore Girls / Rory Gilmore / what would you have liked her life to be in the revival?

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I watched the revival, but it definitely wasn't whatever that was. I think there were some positive and realistic aspects and certain ideas that were good in theory but poorly executed. Rory's arc about struggling with her career and life was one of them.

I've said this multiple times and still feel this way: the Revival came off as the showrunners attempting to create the version of s7 that they didn't get to, but the problem was that it doesn't work ten years later. I'm assuming I'm not alone with wanting Rory to a successful journalist and seeing her struggling was probably tough. It's the same reason people were disappointed with the later seasons of the show when it seemed as if her personality changed, while it was just her making some more mistakes. Years later, I do think that her struggling and having doubts was in character. Read more... )

Asked by [personal profile] peaked: Smallville / Lois Lane / talk to me about how she's the hero of the story and Clark Kent/Superman is the damsel in distress.

NGL, I laughed when I read the way you worded this. Clark did canonically need to be saved now and then (and he's very pretty so he made a pretty damsel too! :D). Unsurprisingly, I have a lot of thoughts! On a semi related note, I find it interesting that, while I can't speak of all DC history, a lot of canons where Superman is evil or has an evil counterpart, especially recently, Lois is either dead or working against him, whether it is Smallville in the Luthor universe, Superman & Lois alternate universe, the Knightmare verse in the DCEU, or as recently as My Adventures with Superman. It would've been easy to have her enamored with him and using the press to help but instead, she's gone or fighting on the right side. As far as Smallville goes, they deviated from the norm immediately - instead of Lois meeting Superman when he rescues her, it's Clark who is in a more vulnerable position. He's naked in a field and has forgotten the human side of him, and it's Lois who takes him to the hospital, and her taking him there leads Martha to finding him too. I always remember how the script for Crusade in the graveyard scene says, "He smiles, never quite met anyone like her before". That really rings true to not only Lois's role in Clark's life, but in the show in general. Even Tom Welling has commented about how she brought out another side of Clark. She arguably has the most consistent characterization as well and the only thing that she was limited by was her screen time.

Lois being heroic is something that is shown from the start. Not only did she not hesitate to help Clark, the reason she comes to town in the first place is because she's seeking justice for Chloe's death. Read more... )

Asked by [personal profile] sapphicsunshower: elementary + joan watson + your favorite season or arc for her?

I don't know if I have a specific favorite season - I remember liking season 2 and 3, minus the Joan/Mycroft relationship. As for her specifically, I enjoyed the second half of season 1 or anything where she was honing her detective skills. One of my favorite parts was her going toe to toe with Moriarty, who clearly dismissed her at first, and then Joan ended up outsmarting her. Her clash with that one cop who didn't like/trust her and Elana were both limited but it was also intriguing on its own (and I do like that Jamie went all "no one can hurt/kill you but me" on the latter).

Asked by [personal profile] queenslayerbee: Gilmore Girls / Emily Gilmore / what do you think of her life going forward? (as in, past the revival)

Emily's storyline in the Revival was up and down, but that was true for the Revival in general. I thought her grief over losing her husband was handled well, for the most part, with her visibly struggling and trying to honor him in her own way, even if it was pretty awkward at moments.

Asked by [personal profile] senmut: Ted Lasso / Rebecca / What is the defining trait you like about her

That's a tough one, because there is so much I like about her - her passion, her depth, her compassion, her strength, her protectiveness over the ones she loves, her willingness to grow and apologize, the way she doesn't shy away from telling it how it is. If I had to choose, it would probably be her courage and persistence. Her course of path may have changed since the pilot, but her drive and her fight doesn't diminish. It's a consistent trait throughout the three seasons, despite the way she uses it changes.
